I don't really upload a lot of my traditional sketches because 1) I don't do it terribly often and 2) I am really really messy/sloppy/rough, but I thought I'd stick up some stuff from my sketchbook. I figure it's worthwhile to show what my traditional work looks like because it's one of the most truthful demonstrations of skill level (whatever that may be).
I feel bad about my work a lot because I'm like, "Self, you should be drawing like a concept artist at your age.", and then I'm like, "No I'm not talented enough" and then, "Self, don't be stupid, you're just lazy" and then I make excuses for a while that generally end up in hurt feelings on both sides.
Do you guys do that? I think we shouldn't feel ashamed about being bad since (aside from child prodigies) everyone sucked ass at some point and then they got better and learned from mistakes. But jeez is it hard sometimes to stay positive.
Anyways I might do something with these concepts. IDK who eel guy is up there, but the top right is Rhyn and Arrensorre, the bottom left is the Dorain doing some shit with some other eel thing and then Cortin is the thousand-yard stare on the bottom right.
I actually really like your traditional style! I tend to prefer a much rougher/sketchier/free-er style, and yours is superb! (: I'm sure I could talk a load of art bollocks about why I like it so much (I'm sure you don't need to hear any of that whole shebang xD ), I just wanted you to know that I do
You shouldn't feel bad about your skill level at all, because you are really amazing! These sketches are really amazing and eye catching despite the fact that they are just sketches! The rough feel adds to the liveliness of the pictures and and it really isnt very messy at all, the sketches are very well defined! I actually really like these sketches (And all of your art for that matter!)
Aw jeez, I didn't mean for this to look like a "Cnids is fishing for compliments!" thing, but I really appreciate the support. Sometimes I just like to lament the fact that I have a long way to go while neglecting the fact that I've made lots of progress from where I used to be.
It didn't look like you were fishing for compliments XD I keep meaning to comment on your stuff, and just end up being lazy! You genuinely deserve them though! And I know how you feel, its like, I know I've made a ton of progress in the last few years, but I still feel like I'm not that great, It's something all artists feel I think
I've scrapped a lot of writing projects because I thought they weren't good enough.
